Cycling is a great form of exercise as well as transportation. Amy Koughan loves cycling and going for bike rides with her son and husband. She loves being able to see new parts of the city while getting a great workout. Whenever she has a chance, she picks up her bike and goes for a long ride. If you are interested in becoming a great cyclist, but have never picked up a bike before, there are a few steps you can follow.

The first step is to find a bike that you are comfortable on. Go to a bike store and talk to the employees there. Tell them what your goals are. Do you plan on biking on trails, or in the mountains, or do you plan on using your bike to commute in the city. Based on this information, the employees can help you find a bike that will suit your needs. It is also important that you feel comfortable on the bike. Make sure that it is a good height for you, and that you are comfortable with every aspect of it.

The second step is to practice. The more time you spend on your bike, the better you will be. Take the time to ride your bike every day. It does not matter if you go for a long ride or a short ride, just riding will help you become comfortable with the movement of the bike.
